Laser-Assisted Hair Removal

In 1960s, Goldman L first put forward the damage to hair follicles by ruby laser pulses, but it's not used for clinic. In 1983, the appearance of selective photothermolysis laid the theory basis for using laser in hair removal. Photoepilation, utilizing lasers and non-coherent light sources, is designed to irradiate as much of the follicular unit as possible, with melanin as the target chromophore. Wavelength absorption should generate energy sufficient to heat and destroy the hair follicle, while preserving the surrounding tissue.

Long-pulsed Ruby Laser: 694nm

This was the first type of used in hair removal treatments. The Ruby laser, as the name suggests, uses red light. The red-coloured beam targets the melanin inside the hair's shaft. Clinical practice showed it has obvious effect of hair removal and hair regrowth inhibition. However 694nm wavelength can be absorbed by melanin very strongly, as a result it fails to penetrate the skin of colored people and thus has the risk of burns and pigmentation.

Nd:Yag Laser: 1064nm

The laser produces 2 different wavelengths of light. One is an invisible infrared light used for deeper penetration to reach deep hair follicles. The other wavelength is a green light which is used for treating follicles closer to the surface. This wavelength is characterized by lower melanin absorption, making it a focused solution for darker skin types.

Alexandrite Laser: 755nm

This is a long-pulse laser and accomplishes deep penetration into the skin where the hair follicles are located. 755nm wavelength offers more powerful energy absorption by the melanin chromophore, making it ideal for the widest range of hair types and color, especially light-colored and thin hair.

Diode Laser: 808/810nm

These are the most efficient hair removal lasers and contain small diodes or semiconductors that are arranged together to produce light. 808nm wavelength offers deep penetration of the hair follicle with high average power, a high repetition rate and a large spot size for fast treatment.

EosIce Platina™ from PZLASER
3 Wavelengths into 1 Single Handpeice Platform

As an integrated solution, EosIce Platform combines the benefits of all 3 wavelengths, achieving excellent results to any mono-wavelength approach on its own. In addition, exclusive cooler handpiece, alternative to ice packs or cool compresses, could be applied before and after hair removal treatment. This handpiece brings you new hair removal experience, easing the pain and enhancing the effect.
